Legal notice: The Intek MT-5050 is capable of transmission on some of the 70cm amateur band, using the LPD channels. For example; LPD channel 18 operates on 433.500MHz. As such it can be legally modified to operate on these bands under UK/EU legislation (subject to the operator holding the correct amateur radio licence). It can also be modified to give an increased 4/5w output power, whilst this would not be legal to use within the UK it would allow the radio to be used on a higher power setting where licensing rules do not apply (e.g. some countries outside of Europe).

Please note that within Europe (and some other countries) modifying this radio to increase power would be illegal, equally modifying this unit to transmit on frequencies on the amateur bands would also be illegal, unless you hold a current licence. Please check with your local licensing authority before making any modifications to this unit!
