You only need to connect the transmitter to the composite video source ( VCR, satellite receiver, DVD player ), and place the IR captor around 20cm from the source device, power them up, then choose the transmission channel.
Then, connect the receptor to the host device, and power them up. All you have to do then is select the channel, then use the host device’s remote control.
