Q. What is the HDD-based multi-media player ?
A. It is a multi-media player that can play movies, music, photos, and also store data like an external portable hard drive.
But it is different from other portable multi-media players as it uses normal PC hard drive. You can install any of your own PC hard drive, or do not even need to install hard drive if the media player supports the network function.

Q. What type of hard drive is compatible ?
A. Both IDE (or PATA) and SATA type hard drive are compatible depending on the model you choose. Please contact us for any enquiry if you are sure which product to choose from.

Q. What do I get when I order a HDD-based multi-media player ?
A. Normally it includes the player unit, a remote control (with batteries), a power cable (converter), a USB cable, A/V cable, a manual, screws. Some products include a bag, a composite cable, an S-video cable, and even a screw driver.


Q. Which brand hard drive is installed inside ?
A. We use top brands. For example, SEAGATE, MAXTOR, SAMSUNG, HITACHI, WESTERN DIGITAL, TOSHIBA.
All brand new products with proper manufacturer warranties on top of our standard one year warranty.


Q. Is the hard drive supplied as formatted ?
A. Yes, we normally supply the media player with the hard drive as formatted. That means the media player is ready to be used when arrived to you saving your valuable time of formatting. You can simply copy and paste the media file from your PC before connecting to your TV.
In case your computer does not recognize the media player as an external USB memory storage device, then you can re-format the hard drive in your own computer. If you are not sure, please contact us for further help.
As we use only top brand products, brand new, most hard drives we supply are free from any defect.

Q. Are there any restrictions on regions or copyright in storing films from the video shop, etc ?
A. There is no restriction on regions, but the copyright lies in your own risk.
If you own a dvd title, then you may copy it for back-up purpose only. You have to ask the DVD title provider for the copyright.


Q. Films recorded directly off sky to a dvd recorder, for example, can they be stored and played back ?
A. You cannot record directly off sky to this device. However you can play DVD files depending on the file formats supported.

Newer models with TV recording function will come out in the market around middle of year 2007.


Q. There seems to be no software which is criticised on the web, how do you drag and drop without it?
A. When you connect the player to your PC through USB cable, the device will show as a USB storage device.
Then you can simply copy and paste it just like in a Windows File Explorer.


Q. What size is the hard drive and how many films can be stored?
A. A typical divx file size for one movie is about 750 mb.
The biggest hard drive available in the market is 750 GB. DVD movie file is about 4 to 5 GB depending on the movie. That means you can store upto 1000 video movies in the media player depending on the hard disk size and the movie file format selected.


Q. What is the 'firmware' that I keep reading about ?
A. A 'firmware' is a software but can control or change the hardware function. By downloading the firmware and updating it, your media player will have better performances.


Q. How do I upgrade the firmware ?
A. Please look at the manual you receive included in the media player pack. It explains how to download and update the new firmware. If you are not sure, please ask us by sending us an e-mail.


Q. You have the wireless media player. What is the picture quality like in wireles mode as oppossed to running cable directly to a hd tv ?
A. Wireless mode can have intermittent file transfer interference while the cable connection mode is the most secure and smooth file transfer and display.

Q. How long it takes for the delivery ?
A. Normally we keep most items in stock. More than 95% of orders received before 2:30 PM will be dispatched on the same day for next working day delivery. If a certain item runs out, then we list in our web-site so that customers know which items are available immediately.


Q. I have a question that is not listed in this page. what should I do ?
A. Please feel free to send us an e-mail or telephone. We will do our best to answer your question as soon as possible. If the question applies to most media players, then we will list here so that everybody can read it. For any complicated question, we will ask to the manufacturer and will try to list here.
